The Turn Is on The Egyptian Nukes !!??

AP and Reuters have published a report from a short time saying that IAEA has found traces of weapons grade uranium !! In other words folks Egypt which is calling a Nuke Free Middle East is having a secret program of nuclear weapons !! Oh my God our regime is preparing an atomic program in secret !!

Journalist and reporter Ahmed El-Mosallamani has tried to reach for Dr. Mohamed El-Baradei to see what the story of this report ia but he could not reach him anyhow he found some sources in the agency that denied this report in the first place !! I hope that this won’t be like the imaginary royal visit as this is much more important !! This will be very harmful to AP and Reuters to publish a report with such dangerous allegations without sources and confirmation from IAEA .

It is worth to mention that Egypt has signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and it also has signed the Nuclear free policy.

Is this a silly joke ?? Our regime is having a secret nuclear program !! This regime which can’t protect its borders in the South from a group of African gangs !!?? It does not seem that it cares that much to have such program secretly !!??

The Official nuclear program is just as doomed as the nuclear scientists in Egypt who are either assassinated abroad or live there with no intention to return one day or live in Egypt to suffer from bureaucracy and corruption !!

I swear if it were announced locally in our official newspapers like Rosa Al Youssef , I would believe it was a cheap attempt from the regime in order to win some public admiration in the region against Iran but unfortunately it is coming from abroad.

Is this because Egypt has officially criticised the Israeli nuclear program saying that it is the real danger on the Mideast !!??

To be honest I will be very happy to know that my country has a secret Nuclear development despite its danger on environment but I do not believe that this will happen in the life time of this regime.

Our official program started in 1955 we built a nuclear reactor in Inshas ,then we tried to build another stations for generating electricity. The program was stopped because of the war in 1967 and the fact that Nasser knew from the head of the program there was no danger on Egypt from the Israeli Nuclear program as if they threw a bomb on us , the Nuclear dust would reach to them in half an hour !!??

The program was shortly revived in 1974 when Nixon offered Sadat the opportunity to build an Egyptian reactor on the condition of inspection. Sadat refused the offer.

Then in 1984 the program was revived , it was decided to build nuclear reactors in the Da’bah area in the north coast but in 1986 the program was frozen because of the Chernobyl disaster. In 2006 Gamal Mubarak announced the revival of this project !!! Again the Da’bah was chosen to build a nuclear station at, up till the project has not started yet. It was announced earlier that Bechtel was going to build the station after a tender last year yet from couple of days ago that the government has dropped Bechtel and chose WorleyParsons instead of it !!

  1. Ohio;
It is possible that the nuclear grade deposits has been inserted by some un-honest motivation from outside!!!.Egypt should cooperate to the best they can with IAEA. They shouldn't repeat the stupid mistake of Nasser when Russia played him like dummy to drop the American Plant proposal by not ratifying the IAEA treaty. Masses in the ME should and must be taught again and again, nuclear weapons provide no advantage to any country in the ME. Cooperate, cooperate and cooperate again with IAEA to defeat the side who aim to play on ignorance of local politicians
Another option, Egypt may consider Canadian reactor using natural uranium(or slightly enriched) for fuel. For the last time politicians in the ME should be open and accept nuclear weapons in the hands of any country, Egypt, Israel, Iran..etc "ARE STUPID". Egyptshould sign whatever the IAEA asks for.

  2. Is the word "not" missing in the penuultimate sentence? I think it must be atypo because the rest of the piece makes perfect sense>

  4. Sorry about the typos it was late at night. What about Israel!!? OK they have several Nukes of no use to them or anyone. You can call them WMD (Weapons of Mass Deceptions). What they do for them is putting Egypt, a country with over 67 Millions peoples, with higher potential for development than any country in the ME, at such an awkward position. Yes for all fairness it doesn't make sense the IAEA doesn't bother them (thanks for the US), but what choices Egypt have? To maintain the staus quo (that makes Israel very happy), or to follow the path of civilized and smart countries like Japan, S. Korea, Canada,.. by admitting and informing ignorant masses in the ME that Nuclear Weapons are stupid we don't want them , and we are never going to pursue them. Sign the NPT that IAEA ask for and move forward with knowledge, education and focus on real developments not politically fake ones. Again use Japan and S.Korea as benchmark. In fact Egypt has more chance with cultural, historical and geographical parameters than those countries had when they started to wake up. I hope I didn't make many typos!!!

  5. Dear Ohio , I meant my Typos , not yours dear :) I had many typos in the post , it is not your comment at all :)
about the nukes, we already have signed the NPT and the inspectors come regularly ,we are taking Japan and S.Korea a role model for too long now.
Anyhow now they are speaking about the possibility that Bectal may be be around this report to revenge from the government who excluded it as the consultant of Da'bah project. Anyhow I believe we should not count on Nuclear energy , Egypt got other alternative energies like Solar energy to satisfy our need , it is much safer

  6. Thanks Zeinobia,
Your comment about Bechtel is close to what I mentioned in my first comment as un-honest motivation (God knows who and what drives them). I somewhat agree with you about the risk of nuclear energy in Egypt with the current level of poor technical resume for the country. The choice for solar energy is logical, and that even will please Egypt's neigbbor (Israel) since the are the world most experienced in that field!!!.
For Nuclear Energy,Egypt should follow a wise path, similar to what Nasser initially took by developng a technical background like Nuclear Engineering Study (e.g Alexandria).send people abroad to gain knowledge and offer them meningful opportunities to return to a good career,...Increase the budget for the Inshas facility, and take a longer path to introduce nuclear , e.g. 15 years!!.

  7. "The U.N. watchdog's inspectors had not yet verified the source of the particles, it said, but there were no indications that Egypt's clarification was not correct."
